On the evening of Friday 28th July we gathered to celebrate the career of Les Gilbert, Sales Representative at Doubleday Swineshead. The many customers, colleagues and manufacturer representatives that Les has dealt with over the years were invited to enjoy a hog roast and a beer whilst reminiscing over old times with Les!

Les started his agricultural sales career in 1987 with his first tractor sale being a Case 956 sold to a customer in Billingborough. Les started selling John Deere for Burdens at Sutterton in 1989, and joined the Doubleday Group in 2011.

His retirement sees the end of a 28-year run of selling John Deere, with the final new tractor sale being a John Deere 6215R to Henry Tunnard Ltd, Les estimates that he has sold over 400 new John Deere tractors during this time!

During the evening, Paula Scrupps, Group Sales Co-ordinator, presented Les and his wife, Karen, a European Cruise voucher on behalf of the Doubleday Team. Alex Child, Group Sales Manager commented, ‘Les has been a very valued member of the sales team who will be missed and on behalf of us all I would like to thank him for his hard work and efforts and wish him a long, healthy and happy retirement.
