Reporting to: Service Manager, Service Supervisor.

Team Structure: Service Manager, Service Supervisor, Service Technicians,(this is the role being advertised), Apprentice Service Technician.

Job Description:

As an Agricultural Service technician for the Doubleday Group you will be required to perform diagnostics, repairs and maintenance work on a variety of agricultural products.

You will be required to work within one of our workshops or either in field or on farm as required.

You will pride yourself on your professionalism and share the Doubleday Group passion of providing first class support to its ever expanding customer base.


Skills and Attributes:

  • Experience performing servicing and repairs of tractors, combines and associated products in the Agricultural Machinery Industry.
  • Good communication and personal skills.
  • High standard of work ethic and attention to detail.
  • Ability to use standard computer applications and internet functions.
  • Familiar with John Deere product is preferred but not essential.
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends.
  • Full driving licence is essential.

SERVICE APPRENTICE – KINGS LYNN

Role:Apprentice Agricultural Service Technician

Team Structure: Service Manager, Service Supervisor, Service Technicians, Apprentice Service Technician (this is the role being advertised).


Agricultural Service Technician Apprentice - Doubleday Group - Kings Lynn

JOB FUNCTION:

The Doubleday Group are currently looking to recruit an Apprentice Agricultural Service Technician to join our team based at our Kings Lynn Depot. Your time will be split between practical experience within our depots and classroom based learning at college.

The John Deere Service Technician Apprenticeship programme.

But what does a Service Technician actually do?

Service Technicians service and carry out repairs to Tractors, Combine Harvesters, Telehandlers and a complete range of Agricultural machinery. Technicians are trained in all areas of agricultural mechanics and electronics, from engines and transmissions to hydraulics and electronic controls.

Duties will include:

  1. Working alongside and assist our skilled Service Technicians as required.
  2. Carry out basic service tasks & develops skills in removal, disassembly and reconditioning of components.
  3. Maintain a clean work area and work in a professional, neat and orderly fashion.
  4. Assist in the preparation of new and used machinery
  5. Learn to maintain tools and equipment to a high level.
  6. Reports weekly to line manager to monitor activities and progression.
  7. Learns to complete reports (DTAC) and forms required in conjunction with job assignments.
  8. Complete an online training program for the development of skills and knowledge.
  9. Learn to work in a safe manner following all safety rules and regulations
  10. Spends time in all departments to understand the workings of our Dealership.

DESIRED SKILLS

We are looking for individuals with an interest in engineering and technology to thrive in this role. While full technical training will be provided, desired skills include problem solving, attention to detail and an aptitude for applied logic.

What is a John Deere and Doubleday apprenticeship?

Like all apprenticeships, your programme will combine training with paid employment, leading to nationally recognised and valued qualifications. You will work at our dealership, but you will also spend time at the John Deere Apprentice Training Centre and at John Deere’s Head Office, both near Nottingham. You will be supported by a designated Assessor and the Doubleday Group, gaining valuable workplace skills by undertaking practical tasks and experiencing real-life challenges. You will be provided with an individually tailored learning plan, with your progress monitored by your Assessor who will make regular visits to you, for on the job assessment and guidance.

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

GCSE grades A – C (new grades 9 – 4) or equivalent in English, Maths and any other 2 GCSE subjects. In Scotland, applicants must have or be predicted to achieve National 4 or above in English, Maths and either a Science or Technical subject. Standard Grades 1-4 and Intermediates are also accepted.
