On Sunday 5th June, many of our local farms are opening their gates to welcome the general public for what has become one the biggest date in the farming and food calendar - Open Farm Sunday.
British farmers produce more than half of all the food we eat, so this is the perfect time to celebrate everything they do to feed the nation !
As well as producing milk, cheese, meat, fruit and vegetables, plus the ingredients for breakfast cereals, flour, rapeseed oil and eggs, farmers also spend hours every week caring for the countryside.
Last year’s Open Farm Sunday events across the UK attracted over 207,000 people (one in five of whom had never visited a farm before), helping to create a better public understanding of food production and countryside management.
The Doubleday Group are great supporters of Open Farm Sunday and this year the team will be out & about at four local events:
Park Farm - Thorney
Naylor Flowers - Moulton
Farmcare - Coldham
Ewerby Thorpe Farm Park Farm
Why not bring the family along to one of the open farms and enjoy a fun and educational day out all for free!
